Being truly loved | 3

“. . . he will quiet you with his love” Zephaniah 3.17

We often think about love in terms of passion or longing, but to be stilled by love is an extraordinary concept. The sense is that anxiety fades in a loving relationship and a deep peace takes over.

For this to happen, the love relationship must presumably be two-way, as to be quietened by love means we need to have a deep knowledge of it. To know we are loved by God is different from being told we are loved or hoping we are loved. There is a confidence in it.

One way of expressing our confidence in God’s love is to worship him and the more we do this, the more aware of his love we become. In other words, as you begin to worship the Father for his love, you are at the same time acknowledging and thanking him for it. As you step further into his love, your gratitude for it increases which in turn takes you deeper into it.

Worship God for the depth of his love for you and find yourself stilled by it.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
