It can sometimes be tricky for us as humans to think of our Almighty God of the universe as our FRIEND. There is a term that may help us understand how we can hold the balance of seeing God as our KING and as our FRIEND. The term is: REVERENT INTIMACY. We are invited to draw near to God, which is the INTIMACY, but also commanded to SUBMIT to Him, which is the REVERENCE --- REVERENT INTIMACY. Our Father God sent his son, Jesus, to come and offer the ULTIMATE deliverance and rescue plan. We were caught in our sinful way of life, but He came and lifted us out of the mud and mire. He has set our feet on a rock. He is our ROCK. He has given us a firm place to stand. We can STAND on Him. He has given us new life in Him.
