A little in God’s hands is a lot!

“How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.” Mark 6.38

It’s quite amusing to think of Jesus standing before a crowd of thousands with five loaves and two fish in his hands!  Naturally, anyone looking on would hardly have seen the point of such a meagre amount in the face of so many.  The miracle that follows is quite astounding.  One of the things it teaches is that anything, no matter how small, in the hands of the living God has incredible potential.

On many occasions we may be confronted by other people’s needs and feel quite unable to do anything in the face of our own limited resources.  The principle of the loaves and fishes still applies.  No matter how small the resources, in the hands of the living God great things can happen.  It may be that all you can offer are a few words of kindness or a few minutes of your time, but let’s not underestimate what God can do with such a small gift.  With less than that he fed 5000!

As you offer yourself afresh to God each day, weaknesses and frailties included, he will take your offer seriously and use you for his glory.
