A roadmap for us

‘Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.’ Psalm 1.1-2

If you find yourself seeking healing, it can be so hard to retain hope alongside a realistic assessment of your situation.  These words from the first psalm provide us with a clear map to help us through and there are two major roads on this map.

The first road is that of mockers.  A better way of understanding this is not to let cynicism take root in us – which can be such a challenge as we wait for God to act.  We can lose hope, expectation and sometimes even our focus on God’s love, becoming cynical that he would ever do anything for us.

The second major route on this map is what will help to keep us off the first road and this is the route of delight.  If we can keep our focus on the person of God, even more than on our healing, then our pursuit becomes different.  We are seeking to know him more and not just find out about how to get healed.

Whatever your situation, sit before the Father who loves you so much that he gave Jesus for you.  Begin to catch his delight in you and let this feed your delight in him.
