“… everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory. . ..” Isaiah 43.7
We can think so little of ourselves. However, the truth that the Bible reveals is that we have been called by the Father to share in the same relationship with him that Jesus had. We have been called to be a part of the same mission that gripped Jesus, and we have also been created to reveal the glory of God.
It is quite hard to define the word ‘glory’. Most of us think of it in terms of light or beauty. It is probably true to say that to reveal the glory of God is to reveal God for who he really is. That is why we have been created. This might seem like we are being set up to fail – how can we, with all our frailties, reveal God for who he really is? Yet if that is what we are created for, if it is what we were designed for, then it must be wholly possible for us to do that.
As you ponder your immediate plans and all the things you know you will be doing – some decided by you, and some planned by others – say these words slowly to yourself, “I am created for his glory.” This is what God wants you to take into the day ahead.
