Be fixed! | 2

‘Let us fix our eyes on Jesus…’ Hebrews 12.2

The word ‘fix’ implies that we must keep looking at Jesus and never take our eyes off him. The trouble is that most of us are not called to a life of prayer 24 hours a day; we have work to do and responsibilities to fulfil. So is this a command we have no hope of ever fulfilling?

The secret is to learn to live in two worlds at once! Coming back to an awareness of the presence of Jesus with you throughout the day is one way of doing this. Begin every morning with some sort of awareness of him, so that each day becomes a fresh revelation of him with you. Then during the day, whenever you remember, try to get used to asking, “Where are you for me now, Jesus?” You may be reminded of what you received from him in prayer that morning, or possibly a completely new sense of his presence.

The aim is to keep drawing your vision back to the central core of your faith – Jesus. He is always there, so find him. He is with you right now, so come back to him and give him your attention.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
