‘For I bear your Name…’ Jeremiah 15.16

The Bible contains many titles or names of God, and each of them reveal something special about his character. Simply speaking, each name is a reminder of some aspect of God that can be instilled in us. As we look at some of these names over the next week, let’s capture the wonder of Jesus, and all that he is, living in us through his Holy Spirit.

Paul writes in Colossians 1.19 that ‘God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him [Jesus]’. The amazing truth is that if the fullness of God dwells in Jesus, and Jesus dwells in us, then we also have all the fullness of God dwelling in us. Everything that was in Jesus – his peace, patience, kindness and love, as well as all his power and might – is also in us.

As we begin to ponder some of the titles for God over these next few days, be aware that they are not simply words, but names for what also dwells in us; names that reveal a resource to which we have access because of the truth that Jesus dwells in us through the Holy Spirit.

As you spend a few moments with God now, let these words touch you: ‘All the fullness of God is living in me.’ Enjoy them and let them enrich you.
