‘. . . and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.’ 2 Kings 5.14
Does God use you? The problem that many of us find when considering this question is that we tend to compare ourselves to others before answering. Yes, he may well use us – but not as much as other people.
Perhaps God doesn’t view this issue in the same way that we do, and every one of us is equally important for his purposes. The story of Naaman’s healing is amazing in many ways. One of its key features is this question: who was responsible for his healing? As you read this story, you will discover that there were numerous people directly involved, and every one played a part in helping this man be healed: the slave to Naaman’s wife, the King of Aram, the King of Israel, Elisha, Naaman’s servants and attendants – even a river! At any point, one of these people could have been a block to the whole process and the outcome might have been different.
You may not think you have a ministry that is ‘up-front’ or glamorous, but every ministry, no matter how small, is a massive part of God’s plan. You have the opportunity to be a faithful participant in his dreams for this world. It may be as simple as offering a kind word or an encouraging smile, nothing that you would call dramatic or life changing, but these touches may be incredibly significant to someone. What may seem a small act to you will be viewed quite differently by them and by God.
