‘I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?’ Luke 18.8
In this parable about prayer, Jesus has commended perseverance because he wants us to catch his heart to bring justice to the world. Justice is about us being able to live the lives he wants for us. In the final words of the parable, Jesus introduces the concept of faith, which it seems is something for which he is looking.
As you begin to celebrate the Christmas season, it is good to catch the eternal message that Christmas is about the Saviour giving himself to you so that you can live the life that he has dreamed of for you – but what he is still looking for is faith. At this time of year, most people are confronted by the story of baby Jesus, but as a believer you are called to do more than rehearse the story – you are called to take seriously and personally its application for you.
Why did Jesus have to come for me? What have I done with that astounding message? What more does he want from me? What can I do with this message?
The coming of Jesus is good news; he was given because of God’s amazing love for you. The faith he is looking for is the faith that says ‘yes’ to his glorious Christmas message, and allows it to shape your very life, the way you see yourself and the way you see others.
