Finding God’s song of deliverance

‘You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.’ Psalm 32.7

Most of us have been through times when we feel as if we are in a pit and need rescuing.  We know that God is our rescuer but finding his rescue can be another matter.  This lovely sentence speaks about both the promise of help and a way in which we can begin to find it.  God surrounds us with songs of deliverance – wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could hear them?  We can, but we have to learn to listen.

We all have our own way of reading the Bible.  One good method is to keep a pen and paper handy to write down any promises that seem relevant to your current situation or present challenges.  As you ponder them, let them become God’s songs of deliverance for you in what you are going through.  You might want to paraphrase them and put them into your own words so that they become personal for you.

Once you hear the songs of deliverance that God is speaking to you, you can begin to let them touch you, and as you do so you will start to see the way through opening up for you.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
