God can still reach you

‘Sir,’ the invalid replied, ‘I have no-one to help me.’ John 5.7
This dear man had been coming to a place of healing for thirty-eight years in the hope that he would be cured. The traditional belief there was that if you were the first person to get into the water after it had been stirred up, you would find healing. For an invalid, or course, this was always going to be very challenging, since without help he could not get in the water! So his chances of finding healing were slim.
There may be any number of things that we think prevent us from finding healing – no one to help us get to the right place, a feeling that we do not belong to the right church or go to the right meetings. What all these doubts do is take our eyes off the true source of healing which is, of course, Jesus. Friends can be supportive, churches and meetings can be real lifelines when we are in need, and it is true that God often uses them as a means of bringing his touch to us, but if we do not have any of these in our lives, the good news is that God can still reach us.
Our primary call is to connect with the one who is seeking our friendship and fellowship – and that can begin right now. If you feel on your own on your particular journey, pause and speak the name, ‘Jesus’, the one who is with you right now and is walking with you.
