It may be that you feel he could use you if you were more gifted, had more time or more overt opportunities to be used. This verse brings us back to a profound truth. It begins by speaking about what God has already done and then goes on to talk about what else he can do for us by equipping us.

In other words, any sense of our being equipped today is because God has already poured out his energy and power by raising Jesus from the dead. He did this because of ‘the eternal covenant’. In other words, it was something he promised to do; it was unthinkable that he would not do it. By the same token, it is unthinkable that God will not equip you for all he has called you to today.

As you look forward to the hours ahead and all that you plan to do, you are equipped for God’s work. He would no more send you out without his presence than he would leave Jesus in the tomb. Let this truth resonate within you: ‘I can do everything through him who gives me strength.’ Say these words and let the truth of them touch you.
