God’s constant presence

‘When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”’ Genesis 28.16

This verse is very powerful because it encourages us to believe in God’s constant presence with us.

It’s worth pondering what you associate with the presence of God?  Perhaps you think of physical manifestations such as shaking or falling to the ground, or maybe an inner awe and stillness.  You may assume there will be light or something along those lines.  Any of these could occur, but in themselves they are not definitive indicators that God is present.  You might not experience any of them, but this certainly does not mean God is absent.

The truth is that Jesus is always with you and his Spirit constantly lives within you.  This means that you can look back on every place where you have been and be absolutely certain that the Lord was there, even if you go on to say, “and I was not aware of it.”

Wherever you go today – the Lord will be there.  You may not sense him and you may not remember him, but he will certainly be with you.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
