God’s kingdom keeps on growing

“…his kingdom will never end.’ Luke 1.33

This amazing promise was given to Mary when she was told that she was going to become the mother of the Lord. It is a promise that has been unfurling from that day until now and will continue to be a promise in which we can trust every day for the rest of our lives.

The promise is that the kingdom of God will never end. It grew during the ministry of Jesus, carried on growing through the ministry of the Apostles after his Ascension, and it has carried on growing through every Christian ever since.

The kingdom of God will carry on growing today in and through your life. Whatever you have planned for the day, God will be active. He will be at work in your heart as well as through your activities, seeking to transform you into his likeness a little bit more and using you as his hands and his mouth, to bring the extension of his kingdom to those around you. Every person that you come into contact with today is someone to whom God wants to bring something of his kingdom. It may even be as simple as a smile or a kind word which may not seem much to you, but it might be the only touch of kindness some people receive all day.

By the time you go to bed, whether you recognise it or not, God’s kingdom will have grown a little more through you!
