‘Who is like the LORD our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?’ Psalm 113.5-6
This beautiful verse sums up something of the sheer wonder and love of God. We read that God is enthroned on high and yet he stoops down to us.
It is easy to suppose that being enthroned on high, God would be happy to see everything from this perspective. Yet the wonder is that he came in the person of Jesus to live life from our perspective, as one of us. As a result, none of us can say that he does not understand what we are going through. However, this raises a challenge for us. Just as God has chosen to see life from ourperspective, our calling is to see life from hisperspective. In all that we do today, and whatever happens, Jesus is enthroned above it.
This is the vision we are challenged to keep at the forefront of our minds: to recognise that everything that happens in our life takes place in God’s sight and before his throne.
