God’s view of us

‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding’ Proverbs 3.5

This verse sounds like good advice, but the problem is that we frequently ignore it, especially when it comes down to thinking about who we are. We make judgments based on a variety of things: our feelings, our past and what we perceive other people are thinking about us. Yet our calling is to trust in the Lord, to believe what the Bible says God thinks about us and to trust in his love.

Sometimes this can seem very difficult, because our negative feelings about ourselves are screaming at us, and we simply do not feel the trust we are called to have. Perhaps this is why it is trust – because we are being asked to believe in something we do not feel. If we felt it, then we would not have to show trust.

Trust is sometimes a matter of putting your hand out in the darkness and believing God is holding it, whether or not you have any awareness of it.

To trust in his love for you is not a matter of indulgence, it is a command.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
