“I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.” Psalm 50.11
This is quite some statement and the implications are incredible. God did not simply begin a process of creation whereby life would automatically reproduce for thousands and thousands of years. Instead he has observed the whole of creation throughout all time and he has an intimate knowledge of every aspect and part of it.
Where this gets personal is that we are also included! If God knows every bird in the mountains – then he knows you and sees every part of you. If he looks under the rocks and sees the insects there, he can certainly see through any masks you may put on and notice every detail of your life. The question is whether or not this is good news? How happy are you that God sees such detail?
Your response to this needs to take on board the value that God places upon you. Jesus said, “Look at the birds of the air . . . are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6.26). Such is your value to him that he loves you enough to give Jesus to die for you; he wants you to be in eternity with him.
So God’s intimate knowledge of you is good news! He sees every part of your life and knows exactly what you are going through – and he loves you.
