‘You have forgotten God your Saviour; you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress.’ Isaiah 17.10
This simple fact – that when we most need to remember the presence of God and all this brings to us, we forget it – is the cause of so many of our worries and anxieties.
However, if you have spent time being aware of God’s presence when you were not in a crisis, you are more likely to remember it in a moment of need. In other words, taking time each day to find an awareness of God’s presence with you is going to sow something into your life, and it will become far more natural for you to return to him at different times of the day.
Speak these words slowly to God, words that are based on today’s verse: “O my Rock, my fortress.” As you speak, explore the words in your mind. What does it mean for you today that God is your rock and your fortress? Hopefully these words will become engrained within you, so when you need them throughout the day they will come back to you.
If you have a spare 10 minutes today why not listen to one of John’s meditations leading us to see our lives from God’s perspective:
