God wants to fill you with his love | 2

“… in order that the love you have for me may be in them.” John 17.26

Jesus’ desire to reveal the Father to us is explored further in John 17.26. What Jesus wants is for us to know and live in the same love relationship that he and the Father enjoy. This is a staggering thought – that the same intense, intimate relationship that Jesus and his Father enjoy can be ours too.

You may think of many reasons why this should not be true for you. Yet what Jesus is saying is that first and foremost this is not about you or what you may have done right or wrong. This is about something that was set in motion before the foundation of the world.

The Father and the Son embrace, and each hold out an arm for you to approach and become part of that embrace. The first step towards joining them is to say ‘yes’.  It is not about what you may or may not deserve, it is about what God wants to happen.  Ask the Holy Spirit to help you enter into that embrace and begin to find the love that has been waiting for you since the day you were born.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
