If only you knew!

Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, “Prophesy!” And the guards took him and beat him.” Mark 14.65  There is a horrific irony in this verse: those gathered around Jesus were in stunning proximity to the incarnate God. Had they known, they would have brought their worship, requests and longings to him – yet in reality, what they did was to beat and seek to destroy him. The closeness that would have enabled them to strike him was the closeness by which they could have received so much from him. Jesus is so close to you right now; he fills the universe and he promised to be with you always – but how are you responding to his presence?  Too often we simply forget that he is there because we do not sense him.  At the end of the day, if we were to look back and see him with us, then we would probably say to ourselves, ‘If only I knew!’ Jesus is with you right now, so pause and ask yourself where he is for you, what glimpse of his presence he is showing you – and enjoy him.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
