‘… his kingdom will never end.’ Luke 1.33
When Mary was told she was going to become the mother of Jesus, she was given this amazing promise. It is a promise which has been unfolding from that day until now, and will continue to be a promise we can trust every day for the rest of our lives.
The promise is quite simply that the kingdom of God will never end. It grew during the ministry of Jesus, continued to grow after his Ascension, expanded through the ministry of the Apostles and has carried on growing through every Christian ever since.
The kingdom of God will grow some more today in and through your life. Whatever you are planning to do, God will be acting in your life, seeking to transform you a little bit more into his likeness.
He is also working through you. You are his hands and his mouth to bring the extension of his kingdom to those around you. Every person with whom you come into contact is someone God wants to experience his kingdom; it may even be as simple as passing on a word of encouragement. It may not seem much for you, but it might be the only touch of kindness some people receive in the whole day.
