Keep focussed on this

‘Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else’ Galatians 6.4

Comparing yourself to others is such a harmful activity; it is one of the quickest ways of negating the wonderful things God is doing in your life. To be fair, we can get quite a bit of help with this habit. Many times throughout our lives we have probably been compared to others, and may well have not come off that well.

Each of us as individuals bears the presence of God. He has chosen to put his Holy Spirit within every one of us. It is an act of disrespect and ingratitude to God to disregard this or to let the comments of others rob that uniqueness from us.

As you take a moment to sit before him and remind yourself of his presence within you, focus on the truth of these words, ‘I bear your name, O Lord God Almighty’ (Jeremiah 15.16). This begins in the singular and means not just other people, but you as well. Despite all that might have been said about you and all you think about yourself, you really do bear that unique touch of his presence upon your life.

No one can ever take this truth away from you, but you can take your eyes off it.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
