Praise God

“Praise the Lord …” Psalm 148.1

All creation is called to praise God in this psalm – everyone and everything, living and inanimate, and this includes us.

Our personal challenge is that we are called to praise God. You might think you are reasonably obedient to this call because you try to praise him at some point each day and certainly enter into corporate times of worship at church. However, the call to praise is more than this; it involves every part of you.

Praising God for the happy and grateful parts of yourself seems natural, but what about the other parts of you that might be frustrated, hurting and disappointed? According to Psalm 103.1, these parts of you are called to praise as well: ‘all my inmost being, praise his holy name.’

See yourself before the throne of God, bringing your joy and thanks to him, but also your disappointments, frustrations and hurts, and remember that he reigns over all things.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
