“The LORD rebuke you, Satan!” Zechariah 3.2
The Living Bible translates these words in a very forcible way: “I reject your accusations.” It would make a huge difference to us and the way we think if only we could learn this phrase and practice it.
One of the main weapons the devil uses against us is accusation. He accuses us of wrongful actions in the past, helplessness in current situations, God’s inability or unwillingness to use us, the pointlessness of prayer, the feebleness of our walk with God, just how much better other people are than us… the list goes on and on.
These accusations are like thoughts planted within us. We all have them and it is the same devil who whispers the same accusations to everyone. Our difficulties arise when we give a home to these thoughts and begin to feed them. As with all things that are well-fed, the thoughts begin to grow and magnify within us.
A more appropriate and life-changing response is to remember to put into practice these four wonderful words: “I reject your accusations”. There are two effects of doing this: first, you are recognising that the thoughts do not come from within you, and secondly, by rejecting them you are cutting off their food supply so that they will wither before they can take root.
As you read this message today, does any weakness, temptation or difficulty come into your mind? If so, could it be one of the devil’s accusations planned to weaken you? Start applying this phrase to your life right away: “I reject your accusations.”
