Showing Jesus you care

“What do you want me to do for you?” Mark 10.51

This is the question that Jesus asked a person in need. Out of all the resources that Jesus had, what is it that they wanted him to do to meet their need? It is never wrong to bring Jesus into every need we have, but our concerns should not dominate the whole of our communication with him.

Very few stories about Jesus occur in all four Gospels, and one of them is the account of Jesus being anointed by a woman. At the heart of this story is a person responding to Jesus by doing something for him, rather than requesting things from him. We can learn from this.

Jesus loves it when you involve him in your life, perhaps praying for his help with something or his touch on someone, but from time to time also remember to quietly speak his name with affection. This is not so that your prayers will have a better chance of being answered, but rather is simply showing your love for him, responding to what he has done for you and acknowledging the friendship that is so precious to him.

We are running some beautiful encounter prayer ministry sessions on zoom right now where you can take time to respond to Jesus. There’s one tomorrow morning at 10am. Click on the picture to book your place – it would be lovely to see you.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
