Spotting the light

“While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9.5

As we read the Gospel accounts of the life of Jesus, we can see how this statement was proved true.  As individuals encountered Jesus he brought light to their lives and when he taught, his words brought light to those who listened.  So what about us today?

Jesus is still in the world.  Through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit, he is alive with us today, which means that he is still the light of the world.  His desire is to come as light to all people and all situations – to your life and in your situations.  As you think about your own life, where is there anxiety, fear or tension?  In other words, where can you identify an absence of Jesus’ light in your life?

Hold these circumstances before him and before the light that radiates from him.  Tell him what it is you want him to do for you in these situations?  Now trust him to shine his light.  He may not shine it in the way that you expect, but he came to be light for you so wait with expectation for his light to shine.

Comments

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
