‘… and there before me was a throne …’ Revelation 4.2
The Bible speaks of both Isaiah and John having visions of the throne of God. What was happening as they had their visions? Did God specifically arrange the angels in the right place so the ‘snapshot’ received by Isaiah and John was just right? Actually, what happened was that for a moment in their lives their eyes were opened so they could see what was there all the time, hidden from human sight yet real none the less. You may never see a vision of the throne of God, but you do live in its presence on a daily basis. Jesus is king; he reigns and his throne is a reality.
If you could actually see the throne of God in the sky above you all day, what difference would it make? Surely it would change your day completely! The presence of God would not be something to hold on to by faith, because it would be staring you in the face. Prayer would be entirely natural as you looked up and saw God’s power. Temptation would probably lose its grip over you in the light of his awesome presence with you.
You can’t see it, but the throne of God really is there, so tune into this reality and live it.
