The continuous thread of love

‘. . . .his love endures for ever.’ 1 Chronicles 16.34
Phrases like this can often trip off the tongue without us really grasping the wonder of what they mean. It sounds like a poetic statement, a general truth, but actually it says something incredibly wonderful to us.
God’s constant love is an amazing concept – it is a continuous thread woven through eternity, and therefore woven through our lives. If we look back over our lives, the thread of his love will be there. Actually, it is far easier to see God’s love as we look back than it often is as we face today or the future, but our challenge is to believe that the chord of his love will be there in the future, and perhaps especially that it will be there today.
We all have some notion of what this day will bring, perhaps some things we are looking forward to and some moments of anxiety. Through every part of this day, the chord of God’s love has already been woven. It goes before you.
Spend a few moments now letting these wonderful words sink in and then, as the day unfolds, consciously recall them so that the vision of God’s loving thread in your life becomes visible.
