The faithfulness of God

“You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed.” Joshua 23.14

If you could leave behind one final piece of wisdom for all posterity, what would it be?  What is it you have discovered that you would like the world to know?

As Joshua approached the end of his life, he gathered the people together to share his final thoughts as their leader.  In his speech he encouraged them to stay close to God and not to disobey the Lord’s commands.  He managed to do this in such a way that it didn’t come across as a stern command, but with encouragement that God was there for them.  No matter what their needs were, the people need not be tempted to find the answer in any sinful way because God had always been with them and none of his promises had failed.

As Joshua looked back over his life, he would have seen the utter faithfulness of God to him.  Perhaps at the time he had his doubts and worries, yet his final words to his people were that God could be trusted.  Thanks to the Bible, his final words still remain for us to read.

Hindsight is, of course, a wonderful thing that enables us to look back and see the hand of God working in ways that we could not see at the time, but as we step into this new day let’s do so with the assurance of Joshua ringing in our ears – not one of all God’s promises will fail.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
