The gentleness of God | 9

‘But the fruit of the Spirit is … gentleness…’ Galatians 5.23

The gentleness of the Spirit, which is also a part of his nature, speaks of the wonder of his approachability.

If you had a deep, dark secret that you had to share, it is likely you would choose someone who exuded gentleness. Gentleness is a quality that makes it possible to share deep things, to draw alongside someone in what might be an uncomfortable time, and to be certain that whatever is said will be spoken with tenderness and a deep love.

Such is the nature of the Holy Spirit within you, and such is the nature of God from whom the Spirit proceeds. Your belief in the gentleness of God can be measured by your willingness to be utterly honest with him about the deep things in your life.

Let the truth of this fill your mind for a few moments as you sit in his presence. Dare to trust his gentleness as you begin to share some things with him that perhaps you have been unwilling to do before.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
