The God who does not find fault | 2

‘If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault . . .’ James 1.5

If we ask God to speak to us, it’s easy to assume that he will talk about how we need to make more effort, improve our life-style and probably tackle our sin! Perhaps that is why so many people are rather reluctant to listen to God; they are not sure they want to hear what they think he will say!

The words in today’s verse are some of the most releasing in the Bible and are wonderfully reassuring – we come to a generous God who does not find fault with us. This is the confidence that Hebrews 4 speaks about when it says that we can approach the throne of grace ‘with confidence’. It is this confidence that assures us that we will find acceptance and love, not fault-finding or criticism.

As you begin to pray today, before you utter any intercessions for situations or other people, slowly repeat to yourself, “God gives generously without finding fault.”  As you say these words, a conviction will grow within you and you may find a new confidence to come before God’s throne of grace, and his peace will begin to flood your heart.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
