The love of God

‘Keep yourselves in God’s love…’ Jude 21

The challenge in this verse is also encouraging: Jude is telling us never to lose sight of the fact that God loves us. What a wonderful command – to always believe I am loved by God! However much we dwell on the love of God, we can never reach a point where God would say, “You’ve gone too far now, I don’t love you that much!” What a wonderful way to start your day, and how encouraging to keep returning regularly to this remarkable truth that you are loved by God.

As a Christian, you have turned your face, in some way and in some measure, to God and responded to his love. So why not go further? There is nothing you can do to make him stop loving you, and also nothing you can do to make him love you more than he already does.

It sounds very self-indulgent to ponder this truth, but actually it is being obedient! Take a few moments right now to rest in the wonderful love God has for you.

If you have ten minutes or so why not listen to one of John’s meditations on discovering more of God’s love:

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
