The love of the Spirit | 2

‘But the fruit of the Spirit is love’ Galatians 5.22

The love of the Holy Spirit isn’t something we usually think about. We talk of the Father’s love and the love of Jesus, but not really the love of the Holy Spirit. However, if love is something the Holy Spirit produces within us, it must also be a natural part of his being.

It is an amazing thought that the Holy Spirit loves us. He was not sent kicking, screaming and full of resentment to live within us, nor does he spend the entire day shaking his head in despair at his misfortune at having to spend years in our company! The Spirit loves us and it is his pleasure to dwell within us. He is thrilled when we turn to the Father’s love for us, joyful when we look to all Jesus did on the cross and delighted when we admit our need of him and call on him.

Take a moment to acknowledge the wonder of the love of God that dwells in you right now. His primary role is not of one who convicts but rather the one who loves.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
