Too good to be true!

“Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.” John 14.9

Do you ever wonder if some of the words of Jesus are too good to be true? These words reveal to us the absolute seamlessness between the ministry of Jesus and the heart of the Father. We often think in terms of the healing ministry of Jesus, or the teaching of Jesus, but this type of thinking is limited. By aligning himself so closely with the Father, Jesus was making it clear that everything coming from his lips or flowing from his ministry also came directly from the Father.

The implication of this for us is that Jesus was communicating the Father’s heart in everything he said. Jesus promised us abundant life, that he would do whatever we ask for in his name, and that we will do the same things that he did. All these promises, and many more, are backed up by God the Father, who also desires these good things for us. The words of Jesus carry the Father’s approval.

Which of Jesus’ promises comes to mind right now? Hold on to it and remind yourself of it throughout the day. Not only has Jesus made this promise to you, but it also carries the weight and approval of Father God himself. No wonder we sometimes wonder whether the words of Jesus are too good to be true!

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
