“This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face towards you and give you peace.” Numbers 6.23-26
We all enjoy spending time in God’s presence, so when a physical location is deemed to be a place of his presence people often honour it and flock there. However, the presence of God is not simply a ‘nice’ feeling that comes over us at times, or a sensation to seek – it is his transforming power. When God is present, it is with the whole of his heart and all his power.
In Psalm 80 we read three times, ‘make your face shine upon us that we may be saved’. In other words, the expectation is that the presence of God will change things and not just be a comfort in hard times.
When you become aware of the presence of God, whether it simply comes upon you or is something you choose to believe by faith as you worship him, catch the sense that his presence can be a transforming presence in your life. With it comes his active love and the same heart that caused him to give Jesus so that you might have abundant life.
You may dream of God’s transformation in your life, and the good news is that this is a reality because of his presence within you. Relax in his presence right now and let it bring change to you.
