Where has Jesus been today?

‘…the disciples did not realise that it was Jesus.’ John 21.4

It can be quite hard to grasp the nature of Jesus. He appeared to the disciples after he had risen from the dead and yet he seemed to be so different that he was physically unrecognisable to them. However, when they managed to see beyond what they were expecting, they saw him for who he was.

It is likely that Jesus is far more active in your life than you recognise. So many times we completely miss his presence and involvement because we are simply too busy, or because his activity does not look like we might expect.

A wonderful discipline is to sit quietly reflecting on the past day and try to notice Jesus’ touches that you may have missed at the time. You will probably be quite surprised to discover his presence when you had no idea at the time.

The more you do this, the more these two things will grow within you: a gratitude for his unfailing presence, and a growing awareness of the reality of Jesus with you throughout each day, even if you cannot see him with your physical eyes.

A healing touch from Jesus can be life changing – which is wonderful! – but if you, or the people you are praying for, are inclined to make any significant change to your lifestyle, please think it through carefully and check it out with a wise friend, doctor or church leader first.
