‘For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ Ephesians 2.10
At the beginning of each new day, you may often naturally ask God to bless it in order that somehow things might go well. Another way of asking for his blessing is to catch the truth of this verse, that today (and every day) you have been created to do the things that the Father has prepared in advance for you to do. No matter what the day ahead looks like, whatever is or is not in the diary, God has already gone before you to prepare work for you to do.
At this point it might be tempting to panic! What if you miss the things he has prepared? Should you spend time praying to discover what these good works are? Well presumably God is not going to all the trouble of preparing things for you if there is a strong likelihood that you are going to miss them! Your calling is to enjoy the day ahead of you, to do whatever you have planned to do, and in every situation in which you find yourself, seek to do good and encourage others.
If this is your attitude to the hours ahead, it will be an amazing opportunity for God to do all sorts of things, seen and unseen by you. He is perfectly able to prompt you with any specific nudges that are needed, so live today in the knowledge that you are doing God’s work.
