Your reputation in heaven

‘When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”’ Luke 7.9
Can you imagine spending eternity being known as the person who had the greatest faith? What did this man do to earn such a reputation? The individual in question was a Roman centurion, by all accounts a good man. He was respected by his staff and had a real affection for the nation in which he was stationed. Yet his goodness is not the reason he is remembered.
He is singled out for his faith, which was not based on a startling religious experience but on an unshakeable conviction that Jesus was who he said he was. He reasoned that if this was true, then by the simple application of logic, Jesus would naturally want to help and heal.
You may or may not have had startling religious experiences (you may envy those who do), but in the end what really matters is what you do with the faith you have. Your reputation in heaven does not seem to depend upon what has happened to you in life, but rather on what you have done with it.
Repeat the name ‘Jesus’ to yourself. He is with you. What difference is this going to make to your day?
